The Co-Creative Business Show is Live - SecondLife The topic

I’m pleased to announce that “The Co-Creative Business Show” at customersOnFire.com is now live, and episode 1 on the topic of SecondLife is posted

Huge thanks to my guests who really made the show, the guests are Jerry Paffendorf (SNOOPYbrown Zamboni) and Giff Constable (Forseti Svarog) from the Electric Sheep Company and David Fleck (David Linden) from Linden Labs.

Check out these other podcasts for more secondLife shenanigans: CC Chapman and the Second Life Primer Podcast and ATS #40 - Conference In SecondLife co-hosts Divo Dapto, Mitch Till and Jangles Junot.

9rules.com has a Marketing section

And ExperienceCurve is in it :-)
Here’s a link to the 9rules marketing community that contains some kindred spirits:

Cameron Olthuis seems to have a very similar take on things, also focusing on marketing, usability & design. Seems to the that the “renesance marketer” is paying attention to design.

Ads Of The World Is a wonderful collection of… er, ads from around the world. Huge collection organized into different sections, includes the ads, a blog, and a forum so looks like a lot of folks are involved here.

Brandon Milford Marketing, design and entrepreneurship. Lots of commentary on the design and marketing of various, dare I say, web2.0 apps.

Wurkit: Best Books Ever Now here’s a unique approach, a blog made up of excerpts from “the best art, business, design, development, and marketing books”. The navigation provides a list of the books and how many “excerpts” have been taken from them, nice.

Forty Media well these guys must be doing something right with over 2000 rss subscribers, phew. They call themselves a “web branding agency” and their blog is full of good stuff, like their list of the best business podcasts, although they are missing Across the Sound and For Immediate Release

What is viral?

Good content worth sharing? Remarkable - as Seth says remarkable means “worth mentioning”, here are some ideas as to why someone would take the time to pass it along.

  • Surprising - Is there a twist?
  • Shocking - People like to be grossed out
  • Funny - People like to laugh, this can range from topical, satirical, and football in the groin
  • Original - Being the first is always good
  • Clever - T-shirt folding for instance, not funny, not shocking, just clever
  • Satirical/Subversive - Does it tweak someone’s nose? Colbert for instance

I’m sure Mack at the viral garden will be able to add to this list, but this is a start.

G4 is really reaping the rewards of playing in the social media space, not only does it have lots of podcasts, but it’s little “star trek/cribs” parody has been viewed over a million times on YouTube.

So what is that? a 60 second spot? An ad that people have not only chosen to watch, but have chosen to share?

Maybe advertising 2.0 is something worth watching in it’s own right?

More YouTube: Panasonic Film Festival & NBC “the office” promo

Couple more companies encouraging customers to create some content for them using YouTube. I rather like the fact that Panasonic is not only offering prizes to folks that create the videos, but also prizes for people reviewing the videos. Seems like Panasonic has embraced the social media aspect of it a little bit more.

THE PANASONIC ONLINE VIDEO FEST
The four winning videos, chosen over a four-week competition period, compete against each other for the First Prize Video Award Package - a 50-inch Plasma TV and a Digital Camera. And one reviewer will win a camera every week, for four weeks.

Adoring fans, harsh critics, shameless website plugs, vicious competition…The YouTube community has the best audience a filmmaker could ask for.

And the NBC “the office” promo competition

Mobile Experience + Youtube = A Perfect Storm of Co-Creation

An italian director just finished a full length documentary, filmed on a mobile phone (an N90 from Nokia). As it happens if you see this phone you might think it was a camcorder that had had sex with a transformer.

Now, the video resolution 352×288 pixels is not going to be great for TV but it’s a perfect size for viewing online. Although the newer model that my friend Paul likes to show off is called the N93 and that captures VGA which is 640×480 (pretty similar to a regular TV.

Now, combine that with the mobile upload feature on YouTube and you’ve got quite a nice relationship between creation and distribution. The mobile upload feature is rather similar to Flickr.com where you send the video as an attachment to a unique email address and the video is automatically added to your YouTube videos.

Mind you I am starting to discover that it may be “editing” that is the art, or the killer app here, and something i’m starting to understand more. Zefrank wouldn’t be where he is now if he wasn’t a master editor.
