Yeah, FF is a great feature, and another example of their fantastic, and empathetic design is the way they automatically back up a little when you hit play after FF. I am constantly fighting back and forth when I hit play after fast forwarding on the comcast box. Not only does it take me a few miliseconds to see the ads have finished, but the comcast remote/dvr is so unresponsive it takes a couple of seconds for the device to actually respond to button presses on the remote.

A Tivo enthusiast, I wholeheartedly agree with Karl's post.

One highlight of the Tivo, is not only did they not screw up the ff, but despite advertiser complaints they left in the 30-sec skip. While they did remove the button, they left in the programming, http://hacks.oreilly.com/pub/h/491 .

Thank goodness, seems like it might take a while, which means I still have to wrestle with my crap DVR. I wonder what actually drove them to make this switch?

It was one of those scenarios where I was concerned that "good enough" gould end up killing a great product like Tivo. I guess it proves that all those DVR's were'nt good enough.
