No Money Down

Bart: A thousand dollars. But your ad says “no money down”.

Hutz: Oh, they got this all screwed up. [corrects ad with felt-marker]

Bart: So you don’t work on a contingency basis?

Hutz: No, money down. Oops, I shouldn’t have the Bar
Association logo here either. [Hutz eats ad]

This is kind of like the Yahoo opt out process. Yahoo give you a link to opt out, you click it and you are presented a screen with a button that you are immediately drawn to click because you are assuming it is the opt out button… No its the “cancel opt-out” button.

yahoo opt out trick

These guys are good, its is almost unbelievable when I show you the screen shot out of context. Try it yourself and you will probably be surprised: http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/pixels/details.html

You probably want to opt out anyway, because yahoo has changed its privacy policy and is starting to track peoples moments outside of yahoo, using Web Beacons, combining cookies and single-pixel gifs.

You are completely right. I tried it immediately after reading this and I still had to override my natural reaction.

    E-vil!
