I just reserved a Penske truck for a move to NJ. Uhaul has screwed me in past, multiple times.

Plus, their online registration process lets you pick a location, but no time. And they say a rep will call you by 6:00 pm the evening before your pick up date to let you know the time and location to pick the truck up. WTF, I would have already picked up the truck. But I guess they get to change it - nice customer service. And like you said, the time is crucial. If I can't pick a time, I don't trust them to pick a time that works for me. I once had to wait almost 3 hours for a truck, which totally screwed up the rest of the move. Penske is about 3xs as much, but Uhaul isn't worth the risk, it will cost way too much in the end.
